Make Your Own Healthy Desserts Here are a few ideas from registered dietitians on making your own healthy desserts. · Add cinnamon and a pinch of sugar to an apple, then bake or microwave it.
· Cut a banana in half, leave it in the peel then broil it. It’ll start to caramelize, which makes it sweeter. Eat as is or top with chocolate or walnuts.
· Put honey on a grapefruit, and broil it to caramelize the natural sugars.
· Freeze 2 graham crackers and 2 Tbs of peanut butter overnight to make an “ice cream” sandwich.
· Mix a bowl of berries, some Greek yogurt and a pinch of sugar. Then use a cooking torch to brown the sugars to make a creation that tastes like crème brulee.
· Freeze your favorite light yogurt overnight to make your own frozen yogurt.
· Grill some pineapple slices and top them with maple syrup and chopped pecans.
· Mix blueberries, nectarines and granola, then microwave it.
· Slice some pears and sauté them with some maple syrup and a Tbs of butter.
· Mix a few tsp of sugar-free baking cocoa with vanilla yogurt, and it turns into a chocolate mousse. Top with raspberries or strawberries to make it even sweeter. |
